What a great song by Jim Capaldi! And with Jim’s great vocals and such an infectious arrangement, it quickly becomes a favorite. It is awesome in that it reminds us of the Fire inside us and makes us consider that long as we have not “expired” (if we still have breath), there still is hope for us and probably something that we need/want/can do to make a difference in this world. I like how he illustrates how quickly we can accomplish our Destiny if we surrender. He portrays that “something so strong” doesn’t consult us or ask us for permission. It simply “burns” and incessantly “drives us on like a fire”. I personally relate to this at such a very deep level.
I don’t normally do this, but I’d ask that if you liked this video, please forward, share it on Facebook, post it on Pinterest or Twitter, or however you normally communicate. A lot of people today are suffering and although this song was released in the 80’s, it is relevant to today and today’s modern struggles. Whether you interpret this song within a religious, spiritual, creative, or relational reference framework, it IS very motivating.
Someone you know may be about to give up. Someone may need motivating. A lonely teen may be depressed and feel like giving up on life. A neighbor may have lost a job and feel like throwing in the towel. Unlike the newest booty tune or twerking video, this song and video just might serve a Higher purpose by getting stuck in someone’s head, and, like the Rocky theme, compelling them to take positive action. God’s grace, unexpressed talent, personal potential, and destiny all have no “expiration” dates. If we’re above the ground, it’s not too late.
You may never know how you helped someone by a small act and paying it forward. It only takes a few clicks. I hope you like this song and my video interpretation.
Be well y’all.
